Historical fiction is my passion.I so love bringing history to life - the reason I dedicate most of my time to writing historical fiction books!

Spring Will Come is the third book in the ongoing Bregdan Chronicles historical novel series. It's readers like you who have turned it into a world-wide best-seller.Thank you!

Book DescriptionAs her beloved city of Richmond is transformed into a deadly Civil War battlefield, spirited Carrie Cromwell puts her medical skills to work in a Confederate hospital. While she fights to save unknown soldiers, the one she cares about the most is lost to her when Robert disappears in battle. She must also deal with a family secret that has finally come to light.

Meanwhile, Rose and Moses have found freedom at last - only to be separated by war. Can Moses, now a Union spy, elude those who are searching for him as a runaway slave, and also help those he thought he would never see again?

Rose, inspired by a revolutionary young speaker, becomes a teacher in the contraband camps.
The third book of The Bregdan Chronicles historical fiction series will pull you in and never let you go.You'll experience the Civil War era (and all the years to come) through the eyes of both White and Black, free& slave, Southern & Northern - and you'll fall in love with every character.

How many books will be in the Bregdan Chronicles? You'll have to ask God about that...I intend to write these character's stories, one year at a time, for as long as I'm able to write.I'm passionate about bringing history to life through historical fiction.Since I'm amazingly healthy, that could be for a very long time!I don't like stories to end any more than you do.This one won't end for a very long time!

Review I love historical fiction.I read book one and book two, and wanted to see how the story continues. I wasn't disappointed at all. They have all been very good books but one doesn't really end, it just goes into the next book. A good read.

ReviewI am really enjoying this series of historical fiction books and can't wait until the next one comes out. A truly great read!

Spring Will Come # 3 in the Bregdan Chronicles Historical Fiction Romance Series edition by Ginny Dye Religion Spirituality eBooks

As with the first two books in this series, the writer keeps you captivated. I have hardly finished one volume before I am looking forward to the next in the series. The Civil War history as portrayed is educational (and from what I can tell, fairly accurate), and I feel I've learned a lot more about the Civil War than I ever did in history classes. This story is told mostly through a few different Southerner's eyes, along with a few Northern characters who are very important to the whole story. The balance created by their interactions with each other is a delicate one, since feelings over the issues of slavery, race/prejudice and women's' rights are very complicated, but the author has accomplished it very well.
I'm only giving this series a 4 because (1) so far, in the third year of the war, the reasons for the changing attitudes of some of the characters seem contrived and not very realistic, and she depends a lot on fairly unlikely "coincidences"; (2) the author uses some words and phrases in dialogue that are too modern for the era; and (3) while the author tries to create dialogue that is phonetically and grammatically IN-accurate for the uneducated slaves, she sometimes misses the mark. But then, I'm told I'm very nit-picky!
I recommend this book to anyone with any interest in Civil War History. The author does a pretty good job of describing attitudes by both the North and the South. All in all, this series has something for nearly everyone, i.e., a little bit of most genres: history, romance, social studies, religious beliefs and just a hint of mystery, too.

Spring Will Come # 3 in the Bregdan Chronicles Historical Fiction Romance Series edition by Ginny Dye Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews

I notice, as I am looking at the reviews for "Spring Will Come", that the most recent review was submitted 3 years ago. Where have I been? I have a friend in Kentucky (I live in Utah), and we have been studying American history together, as he is in the midst of writing a historical novel himself. When I came across this series of books on the Civil War, I knew we had to read them....but we are not reading them as most people who live nearly over 2,000 miles apart would, we read them together via cell phone, out loud to each other, as much as we can on any given day. We have become the characters in the story, using voices we think would fit the character we are reading "for". He reads the male characters and I, the female. Ginny Dye is an amazing writer and we have fallen in love with the characters, as well as her skills as a writer. It is a unique book club we have developed, and want to thank you, Ginny for sharing your talents and insights with us. I recommend these books to anyone who is fascinated with the history of our nation, and I would also recommend finding a reading partner to read out loud with...it makes for a much more enriching experience.
I have come to really enjoy this series. Since it is based in the history of the American Civil War, there is a fair amount of predictability in the plot, but I must give Ms. Dye kudos for her research. I'm not a civil war historian by any means, but I've visited a number of sites, read a couple of books, and yes, watched the Ken Burns series. Those things I remember are handled appropriately, and those that are "new to me" ring quite true. These are not highbrow literature, but are enjoyable reads, you get to care about the characters, and wonder what will happen to them in the historical events you know are yet to come.

My one wish is that Ms. Dye had not used a Gaelic term like "bregdan" to name her series. Because it is being advertised in certain quarters as a good series to read while you are waiting for another giant "Outlander" book, I hesitated to start the series because, been there, done that. I thought this was another Scottish saga. I only started it because I got a kindle special on the first volume, and am glad that I did.
I'm now one-third of the way through the ninth volume of the Bregdan Chronicles, and I would have never gotten to number 4 if I hadn't loved numbers one, two, and three. Ginny Dye is a born story teller. She pulls you in, makes you love the main characters (and, where appropriate, fear the villains). Her point of view is centers on the character of Carrie Cromwell, born to be a Southern plantation owner's wife in the James River plantations south and east of Richmond, but she loves life too much to settle for that, and is far too intelligent and daring to stay within the confines of that life. I'm an avid reader of Civil War biography, history, and fiction. Dye's perspective is that of a woman, and number three, "Spring Will Come," tells the story of her maturation and the burgeoning of her compassion and service as a doctor. As a guy, I sometimes wish she'd get some of the terminology right (boats vs. ships, rifles as distinguished from canons), but those are minor criticisms. I'd not read number three without reading numbers one and two, and when you get through with "Spring Will Come," you'll be clicking on number four. You'll see the Civil War from a fresh perspective and gain understanding of how life is a web of relations.
Where to start with this review? I have been an avid reader all my life and approaching 80 yrs. old now. This series of books by this author is by far the best set of books I have ever read. Starting with basics, the editing was superb and having read the first 3 books of this series, I have only found 2 errors. Amazing. Her research of the Civil War to keep this fiction series accurate is exemplary. Character development is superb and the story keeps me glued to the page and almost forgetting to cook dinner. Ha. All ages can learn and enjoy this book of intrigue, romance, struggle, and many thought provoking situations. More stars are needed to honestly rate this book and series. High praise to this author. I'm now reading book 4 of the series and not even one page disappoints me. Thank you, Ms. Dye for this fabulous piece of work. My husband is reading this series also and enjoying it as much as I am.
